Passive House Certification
The Gastown Child Care Centre has become the first AOA project and the first City of Vancouver project to receive Passive House certification. Focused on net zero energy and low carbon fuel sources, the Gastown Child Care Centre demonstrates our commitment to environmental and social stewardship by reducing long-term energy consumption and providing healthy environments for our buildings’ occupants. The project is also targeting LEED Gold certification.
MIPIM/The Architectural Review Future Project Award
Industrial Long Wood has been announced as the winner of a 2021 MIPIM/The Architectural Review Future Project Award. Celebrating its 20th year, the internationally renowned awards program is organized by le marché international des professionnels de l’immobilier (MIPIM) in cooperation with The Architectural Review. Planned for the False Creek Flats area of Vancouver, Industrial Long Wood is an exposed mass timber light industrial and digital tech office building that will measure 27 metres high by 21 metres wide and 162 metres long, equivalent to a 54-storey tower laid on its side.
Three new storeys of steel structure have been added to the historic Yaletown Square building. Below the addition, scaffolding conceals the extensive rehabilitation of the heritage-designated two-storey warehouse building.
AOA's First Residential Tower in Edmonton
The Jameson is a 17-storey mixed-use development that provides 140 residential units including townhomes and retail space in a three-storey podium. Located in the diverse Oliver neighbourhood of Edmonton, the project reflects the varied architectural characteristics of the area and will contribute to the momentum that the neighbourhood is experiencing as a developing community hub.
