Canadian Modern Architecture
Four of Acton Ostry Architects’ projects have been featured in Canadian Modern Architecture, 1967 to the Present: Chief Matthews Primary School, Cactus Club English Bay, the Sauder School of Business, and Brock Commons Tallwood House. Canadian Modern Architecture is a fifty-year retrospective with fresh insights from Canada’s most distinguished architectural critics and scholars into the country’s unique modern and contemporary architecture.
Construction has begun on two rooftop child care centres that will provide 74 spaces for infants and toddlers in Vancouver’s DTES neighbourhood. The centres are being built on top of neighbouring parkades in the historic Gastown neighbourhood. The City of Vancouver will own and maintain the childcare centres, and they’ll be operated by the YMCA of Greater Vancouver on a not-for-profit basis.
