Canadian Green Building Award Win


The Duke received a SAB Magazine Canadian Green Building Award at the Canadian Green Building Council National Conference in Vancouver. The award program recognizes excellence in the design and execution of Canadian residential and non-residential buildings of all types, including new construction, existing buildings, renovations and interior design projects. This is Acton Ostry Architects’ fifth SABMag award.

The Arbour reaches new heights with international Sustainability Prize

The Arbour at George Brown College, which is the World’s first tall wood, low carbon institutional building was recently recognized for design excellence in the context of sustainability at the 2019 MIPIM / The Architectural Review Future Projects Awards. This multi million dollar, 10 storey tall wood building uses solar chimney systems to capture and harness light and air for natural ventilation and ground source geothermal energy for heating and cooling.

New Facilities for Outdoor Field Skills


Check out the new design of the UBC Geological Field School located in Oliver, British Columbia. The Field School complex consists of: a main building with learning, dining and kitchen functions; a faculty cabin; and, heavy duty tent structures for students. The Geological Field School will be used by students and faculty of the UBC Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences.
