Located near a busy transit-oriented node in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood, the 13,145 square metre, thirteen storey, mixed-use project includes 201 rental units with ground floor retail housed in a unique building typology that is new to Vancouver.
Explore the recently produced virtual tour of the Brock Commons Tallwood House student residence located at the University of British Columbia. The viewer can navigate 360 degree views around the outside and throughout all 18 floors of the building. At periodic stops during the tour, there are annotations containing information about the building and at other points the viewer can access informative videos, factsheets and more.
New Child Care Spaces in Gastown
Gastown Child Care Centre is comprised of two prefabricated child care facilities that will be placed atop the existing Gastown Parkades located in Vancouver’s historic Gastown neighbourhood. The new facilities will provide 74 child care spaces, included within The City of Vancouver’s target to create 1,000 new childcare spaces by 2021.
Canadian Green Building Award Win
Brock Commons Tallwood House received a SAB Magazine Canadian Green Building Award at the Canadian Green Building Council National Conference in Toronto. The award program recognizes excellence in the design and execution of Canadian residential and non-residential buildings of all types, including new construction, existing buildings, renovations and interior design projects. This is Acton Ostry Architects’ fourth SABMag award.
