2017 Wood Design & Building Awards
Brock Commons Tallwood House has been awarded the 2017 Wood Design Award for Technical Innovation by the Canadian Wood Council. The Wood Design Awards program is an opportunity to showcase exceptional wood buildings and serves to inspire designers to push the boundaries of wood in construction. The Jury commended the project for innovative engineering and “pushing the limits of what we understand wood can do”.

Brock Commons aspires to be a model for a future that features extraordinarily ordinary mass wood buildings that are quick, clean and cost effective to construct and which maximize carbon sequestration and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in cities.
Azure Magazine 10 Best Buildings of 2017
The UBC Aquatic Centre has been named one of 10 Best Buildings of 2017 by Azure Magazine. The facility was chosen for being equally Olympian and green-minded, with sustainable attributes that include state-of-the art grey water systems and rooftop cistern storage. Congratulations to the project team!

Construction Dive Favourite Projects of 2017
Brock Commons Tallwood House has been named one of Construction Dive’s five favourite projects that opened in North America this past year. The growing trend toward tall wood construction and the potential to cut costs and time on projects is cited, as is the nine week construction time for the mass wood structure. Other projects mentioned are: Apple’s new headquarters in Cupertino; LA’s Wilshire Grand Centre, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Google’s Pearl Place Campus.
