Flying Buttress Feature for Sculptural Seismic Upgrade

A forty-foot-tall flying buttress is a dramatic focal feature for the recently completed seismic upgrade to the Henry Angus Tower at the Sauder School of Business on the UBC Point Grey campus. The flying buttress was used in combination with two striated concrete shear walls as a means to retain two towering pine trees. The sculpted buttress supports a new coloured glass canopy that marks and celebrates the main entrance to the Henry Angus Tower.

The Vancouver Whitecaps have moved into the new National Soccer Development Centre at the University of British Columbia. The 38,000 square-foot state-of-the-art training centre includes a physiotherapy area, hydrotherapy pools, a treatment room, gym, and dining hall. The soccer centre also features three natural grass fields and two artifical turf fields.
